Short presentation

I’m a Swedish Research Council supported Research Fellow at Uppsala University, Sweden and also a Research Associate at the National Institute for Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) in Rome, Italy. My research looks at volcanoes and Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and their effects on the environment using geochemistry and experimental petrology. I was recently awarded a project grant from the Swedish Research Council to work on LIPs including the High Arctic, Franklin, and Siberia.

Biography

I completed my Bachelor degree in Geology at Trinity College Dublin in 2006 and obtained my PhD from Uppsala University in 2010. After that, I undertook Vetenskapsrådet-funded post-doctoral research at the NordSIM laboratory in the Swedish Museum of Natural History, Stockholm from 2011-2013. I followed that up with a 18-month period of teaching undergraduate Mineralogy and Metamorphic Petrology courses and a Masters course in Field Studies at Stockholm University while simultaneously beginning research at Uppsala University (UU) with the support of a Vetenskapsrådet Young Researcher grant. Most recently, I have been involved in an exciting research project with the Canadian Geological Survey looking at magma-sedimentary rock interaction in the High Arctic Large Igneous Province.
