Short presentation

I am a Swedish Research Council-supported researcher in the Mineralogy Petrology Tectonics program at Uppsala University. I focus on petrology, geochemistry, and volcanology and am especially interested in magma-crust interaction and the petrology of subduction zone and ocean island volcanoes. Recent research adventures have brought my co-workers and I to the High Arctic Large Igneous Province to study magma-sedimentary rock interaction.

Biography

I completed my Bachelor degree in Geology at Trinity College Dublin in 2006 and obtained my PhD from Uppsala University in 2010. After that, I undertook Vetenskapsrådet-funded post-doctoral research at the NordSIM laboratory in the Swedish Museum of Natural History, Stockholm from 2011-2013. I followed that up with a 18-month period of teaching undergraduate Mineralogy and Metamorphic Petrology courses and a Masters course in Field Studies at Stockholm University while simultaneously beginning research at Uppsala University (UU) with the support of a Vetenskapsrådet Young Researcher grant. I am actively involved in numerous and varied research efforts conducted by the Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology group at UU, especially regarding subduction zone and ocean island petrology, experimental petrology, and stable isotope geochemistry (oxygen and boron). Most recently, I have been involved in an exciting research project with the Canadian Geological Survey, in particular Dr. Jean Bédard, and Prof. Valentin Troll at UU looking at magma-sedimentary rock interaction in the High Arctic Large Igneous Province.
