Currently I am working with Prof. Máté Erdélyi on the discovery of β-lactamase inhibitors (BLIs). By protecting β-lactam antibiotics from inactivation by β-lactamase enzymes, BLIs are enabling a continued use of these pharmaceuticals to treat infections caused by β-lactamase producing bacteria. Since 2019 I am also establishing my independent research program on fluorescent probes for applications in the life sciences. The aim of the program is to provide new tools for labeling and transformation of bioactive molecules, and to allow for studies of their distribution in cells, interactions with target biomolecules, and molecular organization, for example, using fluorescence-based techniques.
