My work mainly focuses on reconstructing the anatomy of various Palaeozoic vertebrates, using data gathered from tomographic scans of fossil specimens. Scanning will result in a stack of images, with each image representing a section plane through the specimen. The image stack can be used for creating a virtual 3D representation of the specimen, using various reconstruction softwares (for us, mainly Mimics and VGStudio MAX).
I have mostly studied Palaeozoic fish, and my PhD thesis focused on a group of Devonian lobe-finned fishes called tristichopterids ( http://uu.diva-portal.org/smash/record.jsf?pid=diva2:171769 ).
