Institutional Ideas about Appropriate Corporate Behaviour

Karolina’s research focuses on reputation management, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and business-media relations. Theoretically, Karolina’s research focuses on institutional change, the institutionalization of management ideas and the transformation of fields. In particular Karolina examines how ideas about appropriate business behavior emerge and transform and how they influence our perceptions of the corporation and the legitimate ways of conducting business. In 2006 she finished her dissertation “Corporate social responsibility under construction: Ideas, translations and institutional change, which dealt with the popularization of the idea CSR since the turn of the last century. In her dissertation she showed that media played a significant role in mobilizing and circulating notions about the appropriate business behavior. Today, Karolina continues her research by exploring how ideas about responsible business emerge and how business media and business news contribute to the construction as well as dissemination of corporate images. Karolina is part of research program Organizing Markets at Score as well as in the research program MEMAC (media management and (www.memac.se) at Uppsala university.
