Short presentation

Carl Öhman earned his PhD in September 2020 from the University of Oxford, under the supervision of Luciano Floridi. His research spans across several topics, including the politics and ethics of AI, deepfakes and digital remains, and has been covered by media outlets such as New York Times, BBC and TIME Magazine. In 2020 he was named the UK’s #1 early career researcher in the arts and humanities by Scopus/Elsevier. He is the PI of two projects and author of The Afterlife of Data.

Carl Öhman is an associate senior lecturer at the Department of government. He earned his PhD in September 2020 from the University of Oxford, under the supervision of Luciano Floridi. His research spans across several topics, including the politics and ethics of AI, deepfakes and digital remains, and has been covered by media outlets such as New York Times, BBC and TIME Magazine. In 2020 he was named the UK’s #1 early career researcher in the arts and humanities by Scopus/Elsevier. He is the PI of two large research projects — a five year project on AI and political communication funded by WASP-HS and a three year project on democratic resilience in the context of online disinformation. He is the supervisor of three PhD students.
