Short presentation
My research is focused on exploring early life on Earth and the difficulties we face in recognising ancient fossilised microbes. As such I work a lot in the lab carrying out various fossilisation experiments. Understanding not just the environmental factors but also the intrinsic properties of the microbes and their interactions with minerals is essential to understanding the processes of fossilisation of these microscopic organisms and hence how and where to find them on our planet.
