Prior to my PhD program here at Uppsala U, I had worked as a journalist for five years in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, China. My work experience in journalism leads to a profound interest in anthropology, a discipline that has the capacity to explore nooks and cranny of the world. Currently, I am working on a thesis on play or leisure activities among older working-class queer men in Shanghai. I explore how play shapes the men's queer subjectivities.
