Olena Jansson

I'm a PhD Student in Slavic Languages.

My research project is titled A story about the Turkish Sultan Court in Russian handwritten translations from the 17th century (Рассказ о дворе турецкого султана в русских рукописных переводах XVII в.). It is a philological study with a mixed methods approach: textual criticism and text history, historical sociolinguistics and Translation Studies. In the monograph written in Russian I aim to discuss the questions regarding the cultural transfer, the choice of language register, the translation strategies used by the Russian translators and the reasons for the multiple translations from Polish to Russian in the 17th century.
