Short presentation

My PhD project is about the biophysical and biochemical investigation of Dps proteins from the cyanobacterium Nostoc punctiforme. These proteins are believed to be involved in iron homeostasis and ROS (reactive oxygen species) detoxification in the cell and therefore may play a big role in oxidative stress response. Oxidative stress is one of the bottlenecks for increased biofuel production. Investigating these proteins could give us the knowledge to create more robust cyanobacterial strains.
