Dr. Shruti Kashyap is a lecturer and post-doctoral researcher in Accounting at Uppsala University. Her work centers around issues of transparency and accountability in the international financial sector. Her current research focuses on the inter-relationship between regulators, markets, and financial instituitons within the European Union, specifically addressing the influence of regulation on innovation by incumbent banks and new market entrants in the EU.

Hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, Shruti holds a B.Sc. in Financial Economics and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). She read her Juris Doctor at the University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law, with a dual focus on environmental law and US financial sector law. She is admitted to the New York State Bar. Prior to joining Uppsala University in 2012, Shruti worked in the US investment banking sector as well as the public international sector in Geneva, Switzerland. In addition to her PhD research, Shruti lectures and teaches at the undergraduate and masters level on subjects related to her expertise and research interests. These include the areas of organizational management and control, corporate governance, accounting regulation, mergers and acquisitions, corporate valuation, US and EU financial sector regulation, banking regulation, and audit regulation.
