My research centres on changing relations to the role of history and nonfiction in 1990s British literature. Using examples such as Geoff Dyer, Andrew O'Hagan and Iain Sinclair I am looking at the ways in which authors in this period test the boundaries of private and public histories, and the present's relationship to the past and possible futures.
I received my BA and MA degrees in English Literature from Uppsala University, with dissertations on Alasdair Gray's Lanark and the works of Murial Spark respectively. I have also studied media studies, Japanese, East Asian history, and, very briefly, naval architecture at the undergraduate level in Scotland.
