Maria Hägglund

Maria Hägglund är docent i hälsoinformatik och lektor i implementeringsforskning vid Uppsala universitet & Akademiska sjukhuset. 2019/2020 var hon Keane OpenNotes Scholar vid Harvard Medical School. Som medlem i DOME konsortiumet har hon utforskat effekterna av patienters tillgång till sin journal. Idag leder hon forskargruppen e-hälsa och hälsodata i samverkan och flera större forskningsprojekt, och hon utnämndes 2020 till excellent lärare.

Maria Hägglund is an associate professor in health informatics and a senior lecturer in implementation science at the Uppsala MedTech Science & Innovation Centre. During 2019/2020 she was a Keane OpenNotes Scholar and a visiting Lecturer on Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Her research has focused on user-centered systems that support collaboration and patient empowerment. As a member of the DOME research consortium she has explored the impact of patients’ access to their electronic health records (including notes) through the national Swedish patient portal. As the Chair of the Swedish Medical Informatics Association (SFMI), she represented Sweden in the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) general assembly 2020-2022. Maria chairs the EFMI Working Group “Citizen Health Data”.

Maria has also served as program director for the Global Master’s Program in Health Informatics at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. At Uppsala University, she is teaching at the Bachelor’s Programme in Biomedical Engineering, and through free-standing courses. 2020 she was awarded the title “Excellent Teacher” at Uppsala University.

At MedTech Science & Innovation, Maria leads the research focusing on Implementation of medical technology.
