Professor in Economic History

Head of Uppsala Centre for Business History since 2008

Research Interests

I have since my PhD-exam in 1986 primarily concentrated my research to the fields of financial and business history. Among my special research interests are the regulation of financial markets and the development of the Swedish insurance market. Another area of prime interest is the development Swedish industry in the 20th century, and especially the establishment of Big Business in Sweden. In this project I cooperate with scholars from six other European countries.

Teaching experiences

I have taught on all levels of economic history, the major part on basic courses. I have supervised 16 doctoral students to the completion of their dissertations, and I am currently supervising 6.
