I investigate genetic and environmental contributions to individual variation in social behaviour across development. I use multivariate approaches for data integration and prediction of categorical and dimensional outcomes at an individual level. I work with genetics, brain and behavioural measures to identify mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental conditions like autism.

I studied physics and specialized in medical physics at “La Sapienza” University of Rome. To pursue a career as neuroscientist, I moved to the Netherlands to start working as a PhD candidate on a Marie-Sklodowska-Curie International Training Network grant at Radboudumc in Nijmegen. My work then focused on the characterization of developmental trajectories in autism, and on the identification of early categorical and dimensional markers for the condition. In this developmental framework, I investigated individual variability among infant siblings using novel machine-learning and data-driven methods on integrated brain and behavioural data. Upon completion of my doctoral thesis, I started to work as a postdoc in 2019 as part of AIMS-2-Trials, doing research on stratification biomarkers for autism. There, I investigated development of social functioning by integrating genetics with measures of subcortical brain volumes, brain connectivity and functional activation to social stimuli. From January 2022 I am a postdoc in the Development and Neurodiversity Lab at Uppsala University.
