Desirée Nilsson is Associate Professor at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research, Uppsala University, Sweden, and she received her PhD in Peace and Conflict Research from Uppsala University in 2006. Her research focuses on conflict resolution and durable peace, with a particular emphasis on multiparty civil wars. Nilsson is currently project leader of two research projects funded by the Swedish Research Council: one studying conflict linkages in civil wars, and one exploring the role of civil society actors in peace processes. In addition, she is a core group member of the research project “Resolving Jihadist Conflicts? Religion, Civil War, and Prospects for Peace” funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, and a researcher within “ViEWS – a political Violence Early Warning System”, funded by the ERC. She is Associate Editor of Journal of Peace Research and Conflict Management and Peace Science, and she has been a visiting fellow at the Peace Research Institute of Oslo (PRIO), Notre Dame University, University of Otago, and Stanford University.
