Professor Sylvie Chetty currently at the University of Otago, New Zealand.
Sylvie has worked in Iran, South Africa, Swaziland and New Zealand. In New Zealand she lectured at Canterbury and Victoria universities before taking up a post first at Massey University and now at the University of Otago. While working at Victoria University she joined the Competitive Advantage New Zealand project which is a FORST funded research project. This project studies how firms from small open economies such as New Zealand develop their capabilities and competitive advantage. She has extended this project to include Swedish and Finnish firms.
Professor Chetty is also a Research Associate at Uppsala University in Sweden and collaborates with researchers there who work on the internationalisation of firms and business networks. Her research interests are in the internationalisation of firms, export performance, business networks and social capital. She has been associated with Uppsala University since 1997 when she spent her study leave there.
Professor Chetty has published widely in the international business/international marketing area in such journals as Journal of International Business Studies, Regional Studies, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of International Marketing, International Business Review, International Small Business Journal, European Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, Journal of Strategic Marketing as well as several chapters in edited books.
