My PhD research is to studies the ultrafast demagnetization dynamics of magnetic materials in pump probe experiments (T-MOKE).
In a pump-probe experiment, first a pump-pulse is used to excite a sample, than a second photon-pulse is used after a certain time delay to probe how the initial perturbation has developed over time. By using Extreme UV light from a high harmonic generation source (HHG), we are able to study the element specific magnetization dynamics in femtosecond time regime.
