I am a doctoral student in Cultural Anthropology with a knack for creativity and everyday poetics. My research explores vulnerability at the intersection of old age, gender, and the postcolony through the study of older female street vendors in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. My research interests include (but are not limited to) collective memory and the self, modern myth-making, tactics and strategies, the Mestiza consciousness, the Afro-Hispanic postcolony, cultural gerontology, existential anthropology, moral creativity, and narrative theory.
My work within anthropology has been greatly influenced by a strong, personal relationship with literature which dates back to the publication of my first poetry book in my early teens. Since then, I’ve published a number of poem collections, won several prizes, been included in anthologies, coordinated workshops, lectured, and participated in readings in Mexico, Spain, Poland, Sweden and Equatorial Guinea under the sponsorship of local and foreign actors, governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations.
Currently I am a board member of the Uppsala Författarsällskap [Uppsala Writers’ Society].
