Short presentation

I am a historian of medicine. Since defending my Ph.D.-thesis in 2011, I have been involved in various projects, including researching the emergence of genetic counseling in Sweden (1950-1980), studying Swedish German-friendly physicians and scholars during 1933-1970s, and exploring aspects of 1920s urology. In 2018, I study the Swedish thalidomide scandal, within the programme Medicine at the borders of Life, http://www.medicalborders.se

In 2011, I defended my PhD-thesis on Swedish eugenics and sterilizations. The dissertation focused
on the zoologist Nils von Hofsten (1881-1967) and his influence on eugenics and sterilizations
during the first half of the 20th Century. I also emphasize his social network of scientists interested
in the early eugenics, and how von Hofsten often came to his important positions with the help of
his network. Other themes in the dissertation are biopolitics, individual internalization of eugenic
norms of reproductive behavior, and masculinity.
My institutional background is the Department of Thematic Studies at Linköping University,
Sweden, where I did my postgraduate studies (2006-2011). Prior to that, I did my graduate studies
at Uppsala University, and have a Master's degree from the Upper Secondary School Teacher
Programme, where I specialized in History and Swedish (1997-2002).1-1967) and his influence on eugenics and sterilizations
