Niklas Karlén is Assistant Professor at the Swedish Defence University and Lecturer at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University. His main research interests cover third-party interventions, international dimensions of civil war and US foreign policy. His current work focuses on external state support to warring parties, invitations to intervene, ex-combatant networks, foreign policy decision-making, and government policies toward ethnic groups.
