Kort presentation

My research focuses on biomaterials, biomechanics and the interaction in between. Projects revolve around the development and characterization of new biomaterials but also characterization of soft and hard tissues. Other projects focus on the design and characterization of implants, alone or in combination with tissues.

Forskning

My research focuses on biomaterials, biomechanics and the interaction in between. Projects revolve around the development and characterization of new biomaterials but also characterization of soft and hard tissues. Other projects focus on the design and characterization of implants, alone or in combination with tissues.

Ongoing projects:

  • Degradable bone augmentation materials
    • Injectable, bioactive gels
    • Fibre-reinforced ceramics
    • 3D-printable composites
  • Permanent bone augmentation materials
    • Low-modulus bone cements for spinal applications
  • Wear resistant biomedical coatings
    • Silicon nitride based coatings for joint implants
    • Combinatorial sputtering of biomedical coatings
  • Characterization of tissue mechanical properties
    • Tissue-level trabecular bone
  • Bone fracture treatment systems
    • The effect of augmentation materials on screw attachment in bone
    • The effect of screw design on screw attachment as a function of bone morphology
    • Patient-specific design of implants for critical-sized defects
  • Improved models for biomaterial and implant design evaluation
    • Improved synthetic models of trabecular bone
