Dr. Mikael Eriksson has been affiliated with the International Business research group since September 2008. Currently he is working on a project concerning new types of large and quickly growing Asian mid-markets, old and experienced multinationals, and the role of experience in internationalization processes.

Dr. Eriksson’s dissertation concerned the challenges with applying strategic firm-level approaches when seeking to understand contemporary internationalization processes, and his conceptual multi-process model was awarded the Aalto’s That’s interesting award at Academy of International Business 2011. The multiple process types idenitfied in an intra-organizational analysis instead rest on evolutionary ideas of routine changes (partly unconscious), and on political behaviors (partly informal). The phenomenon was investigated in the context of the Western MNCs seeking to explore markets which emerge when people rise out of poverty in China (mid-markets).

Mikael has also during his PhD been working at the Fudan University, Shanghai China, as a track responsible for international business courses and he has previously been working in management consultancy firms in Italy and Sweden.
