My research concerns challenges facing new democracies, especially as seen from below. My work primarily focuses on the dynamics of post-war citizenry participation, especially in the intersection between peacebuilding, democratization and statebuilding.

At present I am a EURIAS research fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and the Social Sciences, see
