TARAKESWAR SHAW was born in India. He received the B-Tech. Degree in electronics and communication engineering from theWest Bengal University of Technology (currently MAKAUT), Kolkata, India, in 2012, and the M.E. degree in electronics and telecommunication engineering (specialization in microwave engineering) from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, India, in 2015, and the PhD degree from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, India, in 2021. His PhD research aims to construct a simple, compact, and highly efficient planar WPT system using metamaterial (MTM) structures for air and biomedical applications.

He is currently doing his Postdoctoral Research under Carl Trygger fellowship with the Division of Solid-State Electronics, Microwaves in Medical Engineering Group (MMG), Department of Electrical Engineering, Ångström Laboratory, Uppsala University (UU), Sweden. He worked as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, C.V. Raman Global University, Bhubneswar-752054, Odisha, India. He has authored or co-authored more than 30 journals and conference articles. His current research interests include electromagnetic metamaterials, metamaterial-based liquid and biomedical sensors, highly efficient wireless power transfer system design using metamaterial for free-space and implantable biomedical devices, and biomedical antennas.

Dr. Shaw was a recipient of the Visvesvaraya PhD Research Fellowship Award for Electronics and IT under MeitY, Government of India. He also serves as an active reviewer for different reputed journals such as Scientific Reports (Springer Nature), the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, the IEEE Access, the IET Microwaves Antennas and Propagation, the IET Power Electronics, International Journal of RF and Microwave Computer-Aided Engineering (Wiley), and Progress in Electromagnetics Research.

Academic Research Performed in the Area of

 Wireless Power Transfer (WPT): Metamaterial based efficient WPT system design for the applications of compact electronic devices in free-space (Off-body), On-body, and implantable biomedical environment.
 Antenna: Miniaturization of the antenna and electrically small antenna design using metamaterial, Performance improvement of the antenna, Biomedical antenna.
 Electromagnetic Periodic Structures: Design of low-loss Metamaterial (MTM) and metasurface for Electromagnetic application.
 Sensor: Design and analysis of metamaterial‑based compact and highly sensitive microwave liquid sensors.
 Absorber: Metamaterial-based absorber at microwave frequency, Graphene-based THz absorber.

Future Interest:

Design of the Metamaterial based rectenna (rectifier+antenna) to construct an efficient WPT system for implantable medical devices (IMDs), Real-time application of WPT to charge human healthcare devices, and Energy harvesting using metamaterials. Also, build a highly efficient On-Chip WPT and data telemetry system simultaneously using MTM to monitor, stimulate, and regulate the vital signs of the internal human organs and transmit detailed information about the health conditions of the particular organs to an external system.
