My research's goal is to analyse the perceptions and meanings attributed to the municipal governance process, and how challenges citizens meet correspond to their expectations about democracy, with particular reference to the democratic model and the daily democratization practices in local arenas in Mozambique. The focus is to understand local governance and how it is seen from below; as to pay attention to the informal sector, including petty traders, street hawkers and street vendors.
