My dissertation project explores the link between climate change, natural disasters and the likelihood of various kinds of armed conflict. It further investigates the relationship by looking into potential intervening mechanisms such as environmental migration, and conditioning factors such as quality of state and local political institutions. The project employs both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Kristina Petrova is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research and Center of Natural Hazards and Disaster Science (CNDS) . Her current work is also associated with a political Violence Early Warning System (ViEWS) and MISTRA Geopolitics projects.
