I graduated with distinction at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich (Germany) in 2008, before I worked for three years as a catastrophe risk model developer with focus on large-scale flood risk. In 2011, I was awarded a scholarship by the European Commission's Marie-Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) 'Changes' to pursue my PhD studies on flood risk assessment in mountain areas considering climate change at the University of Salzburg (Austria) with secondments in the Netherlands and Germany, which I completed summa cum laude. In 2016, I joined the Department of Earth Sciences of Uppsala University as a Postdoctoral Researcher, where I am working closely with Giuliano Di Baldassarre.
My focus is on hydro-meteorological extremes under current and future climate conditions. I have worked with hydrological impact assessment and extreme value analysis in various regions around the world. With my research, I want to contribute to a better understanding of the changes we will expect in the future to allow for the development of sustainable mitigation strategies for a better protection of our societies against the risks of floods, droughts or agricultural losses around the globe. In that context, through my teaching, I also want to signficiantly contribute to the education of the next generation of young scientists and professionals working on these environmental and societal issues.
