I graduated with distinction at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich (Germany) in 2008, before I worked for three years as a catastrophe risk model developer with focus on large-scale flood risk. In 2011, I was awarded a scholarship by the European Commission's Marie-Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) 'Changes' to pursue my PhD studies on flood risk assessment in mountain areas considering climate change at the University of Salzburg (Austria) with secondments in the Netherlands and Germany, which I completed summa cum laude. I worked as a senior researcher and consultant before joining the Department of Earth Sciences of Uppsala University in 2016 as a Postdoctoral Researcher, where I am working closely with Giuliano Di Baldassarre.
My focus is on hydro-meteorological extremes under current and future climate conditions. I have worked with stochastic weather generation, hydrological modelling and extreme value analysis in various regions around the world. My special interest is in mountain regions, which are particularly vulnerable to climate change. With my research, I want to contribute to a better understanding of the changes we will expect in the future to allow for the development of sustainable mitigation strategies for a better protection of the society against the risk of floods, droughts or agricultural losses in both the developed and developing world.
