Kort presentation

Utöver mitt arbete vid Uppsala Universitet så har jag även ett stort samhällsengagemang som rör frågor kring schizofreni och mental hälsa. Jag är ordförande i Schizofreniförbundet på riksnivå och sitter som ledamot i Center for Women's Mental Health, och jag är medlem av styrgruppen i det Nationella Nätverket för patienter med Nydebuterad Psykos. Som styrelseledamot i European Federation of Associations of People With a Mental Illsess, så driver jag mina hjärtefrågor även på Europanivå.

Forskning

Åsa Konradsson-Geuken has considerable expertise in experimental neuropsychopharmacology, animal models of psychiatric disease, electrophysiology in vitro, cognitive tasks and several techniques for neurochemical analysis. She is one out of three researchers in Europe that use the enzyme-based microelectrode array in freely moving animals, and combines this with optogenetic techniques. Her focus is the neurochemistry in the neuronal networks involved in cognitive symptoms found in severe psychiatric diseases, i.e. schizophrenia.
