I have been employed as a PhD candidate since September 2013. My dissertation is constituted by various studies on ethnographies of Romanian Roma and their housing issues on the one hand and study of the institutional planning and housing policy framework in Romania on the other. More specifically, my intention is to determine i) how the Romanian planning issues can be understood through an anthropological lens, ii) how geographies of struggle in Romania are manifested in various cities (Bucharest, Cluj, and Timisoara), iii) how power relations and absence of planing are manifested at local level, and iv) what the general patterns of the housing situation of Romanian Roma in Sweden are. My theoretical framework is predominantly inspired by post-modern and critical theory. I will mainly use qualitative methods, including various ethnographic tools such as in-depth interviews and observations, and quantitative elements such as surveys and GIS.
