Kort presentation
Maria is an Associate professor and Director of Nursing and Midwifery programs at the Department of Women's and Children's Health. Her research adopts a paediatric public health perspective, focusing on the primary prevention of HPV-related cancer and promotion of preconception health among adolescents. Other research areas includes separation of mother and infants in neonatal intensive care units, and care takers and care givers perspectives on contraceptive counselling.
Biografi
Maria is a specialist nurse in paediatrics and has a medical master degree in public health. In 2015 she received her PhD in Medical Sciences at Dept. of Public Health and Caring Sciences, Uppsala University, Sweden. The overall aim of the thesis was to examine beliefs about human papillomavirus (HPV) prevention of HPV, especially HPV vaccination, in the perspective of parents, immigrant women, adolescents and school nurses, and to promote primary prevention of HPV among adolescents.
In January 2016 Maria began as a Post doc at the Dept. of Women’s and Children’s Health at Uppsala University. The research adopts a paediatric public health perspective, focusing on the primary prevention of HPV-related cancer. The research also comprises sexual and reproductive health among adolescents, and vulnerable groups such as immigrant women. Since 2020 the research also focus on Zero separation after birth and the effects of the maternal-newborn dyad
Since January, 2018, Maria is a Senior lecturer at the Department of Women's and Children's Health, Uppsala University.
