Patrik Aspers is professor at the Department of sociology. His research focuses on economic sociology, especially markets, and sociological theory. Empirically he has worked on fashion. Aspers is the author of Orderly Fashion, A Sociology of Markets (Princeton UP, 2010), Markets (Polity Press 2011),Markets in Fashion (2006 Routledge). the editor with J. Beckert of The Worth of Goods (Oxford UP, 2011), and with N.Dodd Re-Imagining Ecnoomic Sociology (Oxford UP 2015).

He has previously worked as professor of sociology at Stockholm University, Department of Sociology and SCORE, and as professor of fashion management at the Swedish School of Textiles. From 2005 to 2009 he worked as researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne. Aspes has served as president of the Swedish Sociological Association (2010-2012). He has been academic visitor at Columbia University, Harvard University, The LSE, Science Po, ZiF, University of Bielefeld.
