Pär J. Ågerfalk is a Professor at Uppsala University where he holds the Chair in Information Systems. He received his PhD in Information Systems Development from Linköping University and has held full-time positions at Örebro University, University of Limerick, Jönköping International Business School and Lero – The Irish Software Engineering Research Centre.
Prof. Ågerfalk’s current research centres on open source software development, open innovation, globally distributed and flexible software development methods and how information systems development and conceptual modelling can be informed by pragmatism. His work has appeared in a number of leading journals and conferences in the information systems field, such as MIS Quarterly and ICIS, and he is currently a co-editor of the European Journal of Information Systems and a member of the Journal of Information Technology editorial board.
Prof. Ågerfalk is involved in a number of national and international organizations and networks, such as the IFIP working groups 8.1 (Design and Evaluation of Information Systems), 8.2 (The Interaction of Information Systems and the Organization) and 2.13 (Open Source Software), and The Association for Information Systems (AIS). He is the Dean of the Swedish National Research School of Management and Information Technology and was the founding chair of the AIS Special Interest Group on Pragmatist IS Research (SIGPrag).
